DC 4254 and DCP 4611 lead train B62 (Taumarunui to Te Rapa) and C12 (Te Rapa to Mt Maunganui), conveying 20 SA carriages to Mt Maunganui for export. The wagon on the end was used solely for carrying the train end monitor. The SA fleet were partially withdrawn in July 2015 and fully with drawn in September 2015, after the AM class EMUs took over all services between Papakura and Swanson, and then the ADL class reclaiming the Pukekohe shuttle services, and have been stored at Taumarunui ever since
On its first excursion of the winter 2016 season since returning to Auckland the previous week, RM 30 heads from Auckland to Kinleith and return, with a Railway Enthusiasts Society charter. The railcar will be kept busy over the season as it started a week-long Pukekohe Travel charter the following day. DFT 7051 leads train C91, Auckland to Mt Maunganui, with redundant ADK and ADB class carriages in tow. The DMUs were being moved to Mt Maunganui for shipment. The consist of the train was DFT 7051 leading ADB 774, ADK 688, ADK 681, ADK 685 and ADK 684. The SX set and most of the remainder of the ADK fleet travelled down to Mt Maunganui on two separate trains the previous day
Trains the morning after Daylight Saving finished for the summer. Train 248 with DL 9377 through Drury, train MP5S with DL 9141 crossing Sutton Road and ADL 803 on a Pukekohe shuttle near Papakura. Train 248 gained an extra hour of running time due to the end of Daylight Saving, but passed through Drury just 30 minutes early
DC 4254 and DC 4571 were hastily allocated to the Northern Explorer (nicknamed "Dora" after a children's TV show character) after the failure of DFB 7158 two days prior, however the locomotives were required to return to Auckland and so ran train 200 the following day as well. Here, we see that train 200 at Buckland and Takanini, as well as the empty service L200 at Remuera
DXB 5114 leads train 200, the northbound Northern Explorer, into Britomart Transport Centre for the last time. The Northern Explorer will stop at Strand station from 21 December 2015. DXB 5114 and train 200 became the final locomotive and final diesel-powered train to enter Britomart, with the station now exclusively serving the AM class EMUs. "Dora" was moved to the Strand station as Auckland Transport needed the capacity during CRL works and could not afford the train to take a platform for 40 minutes
Glenbrook Vintage Railway opened their 2015/2016 season with the celebration of the 100th birthday of Ww 644, operating all throughout the long weekend and with a market planned on Monday. A lucky child placed a coal cake in the firebox of Ww 644 before it departed on the next trip. At the end of the day, the train moved some wagons further up the mainline connection to make room for more wagons to arrive from DBM
DC 4951 powers a "Farewell to the SAs" excursion, organised by the Railway Enthusiasts Society. The train travelled around the network, visiting every line including Waitakere and Manukau, but excluding the Onehunga Branch. This was the last opportunity to travel on an SA set in Auckland, as the sets are withdrawn and are now up for sale
Steam Inc's successful attempt at the Double Thunder excursion from Paekakariki to Woodville and return, behind Ja 1271 and Ab 608. The train was originally scheduled to run on 20 June, however was cancelled due to a number of washouts on the railway and road caused by poor weather. Ja 1271 led the train outbound, with Ab 608 leading the homeward bound train
